DRAWING AUGUST 22
Once again this year, a generous benefactor has given the AAOLA FOUR 2008 LSU Football season tickets to raffle. That's four tickets to each 2008 home game -- a retail value of approximately $2,500, but to LSU fans ... just about priceless.
The raffle tickets are only $20 each, and the winner will receive seats 1-4 in the Upper West Deck, Section 617 for every 2008 LSU home football game. The drawing will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, at 3 p.m. You do not have to be present to win.
So how do you get hold of some chances to win? Buy your tickets online using our secure shopping cart service through AuctionPay. You can also call the office at (225) 761-8230 (toll free 1-866-390-8736), e-mail Karen Kennedy, or check with a board member you know.

Mayor Holden to Be Honored Oct. 24 in Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge's Mayor-President Kip Holden will be honored with the Arthritis Association's
2008 Tribute to Excellence Award for his longtime support of nonprofit organizations in our community and his tireless efforts on behalf of the Americans With Disabilities Act Task Force. The award will be presented at the AAOLA's 10th annual Tribute to Excellence
Gala, our largest yearly fundraiser, on Friday, October 24, at the Holiday Inn Select on Constitution Ave. in Baton Rouge.
The Tribute to Excellence Award is an annual recognition program that honors people who devote substantial
time and effort to improving the quality of life for fellow Louisianans through their commitment
and dedication to nonprofit organizations and those they serve. Past honorees have been individuals who demonstrated
outstanding service and philanthropy in the
greater Baton Rouge area. The only exception to this tradition over the years was the 2006 Tribute
to Excellence winner, "Katrina hero" Patrick Pearson, a Kenner man who sent his family to safety ahead
of Hurricane Katrina's arrival and stayed behind to help rescue, feed and shelter hurricane victims
at his own expense.
Other past honorees include J.H. "Jay" Campbell Jr., CEO of Associated Grocers; Richard Lipsey of Lipsey's, Inc.;
Gary Sligar, CEO of Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Co.; Gary Mockler, Chairman of Mockler Beverage Co.; LSU Athletic
Director Skip Bertman; and Gerry Lane of Gerry Lane Enterprises.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize Mayor Holden's many unique contributions to the city of Baton Rouge
and to East Baton Rouge Parish," said Robin Mayhall, AAOLA vice-chair. "The mayor has a strong vision for Baton Rouge, and
he has done so many things during his tenure to improve our citizens' health and quality of life."
In addition to the award presentation, the 2008 Tribute to Excellence Gala will include dinner, a brief program about arthritis
in Louisiana, a live and silent auction and the presentation of the Laurie Smith Anderson Award for Excellence in
Healthcare Reporting. To become a Gala sponsor and/or reserve tables for the fall Gala, please contact
Karen Kennedy.
